07 July 2020: Schleich, one of the largest toy manufacturers in Germany and an international supplier of realistic animal figures, has decided to neutralize its entire CO2 footprint of sea freight with the help of Kuehne + Nagel .
“The decisive factor was Kuehne + Nagel’s Net Zero Carbon program, which sets new standards with CO2 neutral logistics. We are delighted with this cooperation based on shared values for the environment and people, ”said Dirk Engehausen, CEO of Schleich.
As part of its Net Zero Carbon program, Kuehne + Nagel offers Schleich a complete CO2 neutralization solution. By choosing particularly climate-friendly sea routes and offsetting the remaining emissions with CO2 certificates, the sea freight of the German toy manufacturer is shipped climate-neutral. Kuehne + Nagel takes care of the entire process and ensures good coordination with the rest of the supply chain.
Otto Schacht, Board Member of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, Head of Maritime Logistics, said: “Our new partnership with Schleich shows that Kuehne + Nagel is listening with its Net Zero Carbon program. Our ability to offer Schleich a coordinated package for the CO2 neutral treatment of sea freight was decisive. We are delighted to actively support Schleich in his ambitious climate goals. “
With Net Zero Carbon, Kuehne + Nagel not only supports its clients on the path to climate neutrality; the company has also set itself ambitious climate targets. By the end of 2020, the company’s own CO2 emissions (Scopes 1 and 2 of the greenhouse gas protocol) will be neutral; by 2030, it will be extended to all transport from suppliers such as airlines, shipping lines and transport companies (Scope 3).
