Hamleys, the world’s best toy store, launches on eBay – Retail Times

Hamleys, The Finest Toy Shop in the World, today announces the launch of its first eBay store, as part of the company’s plans to expand its online presence.

Founded in 1760, Hamleys has become famous around the world for its physical stores, captivating experiences and eye-catching window displays, especially its iconic Regent Street store which is a huge draw for locals and international tourists.

From today, eBay’s 28 million UK customers will be able to purchase the full range of Hamleys toys and games. More than 1,600 product lines will be listed on eBay, including its 10 Best Toys for Christmas 2020 and its Hamleys own-label toy line, and the store is offering up to 40% off until December 22.

The overall toy category on eBay has seen its sales increase dramatically over the past year, with new and retro toys proving to be popular. On Black Friday, toy sales increased 58% from the previous year. Superheroes and Star Wars dominated the most popular buys, with Star Wars and Marvel Avengers Lego sets among the most popular – 16 superhero-themed items were purchased every hour during the Black Friday period on eBay UK.

The addition of Hamleys will give further impetus to eBay’s growing toy offering, with The Entertainer and Early Learning Center also recently joining eBay.

Murray Lambell, Managing Director of eBay UK, said: “Many of us will have a special memory of Hamleys – as a child and spending an afternoon playing in one of their stores, or in family to visit their famous Christmas cave. As the pandemic continues to disrupt Main Street, we are excited to be able to offer iconic brands like Hamleys yet another online storefront, bringing the magic of their in-store experience to reach the millions of customers we have in the UK. And in the world. “
